John MOULD of Banbury & Nethercote


John Mould (1821-1892)
Was born 8 Feb 1821 in Nethercote, Banbury Parish, Northamptonshire, England and was baptized
11 Mar 1821 at Church of England, St. Mary's, Banbury Parish, Oxfordshire, England and died
Monday 18 Jan 1892 In Milton, Saratoga County, New York.
John Mould was buried 20 Jan 1892 at Ballston Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York and his tombstone was still in decent shape in 2006.

John Mould at 18 years of age immigrated to the port of New York from Banbury, England on 22 Aug 1839 with two of his siblings; Elizabeth Mould 21 years of age and James H. Mould 14 years of age. They sailed on the Schooner Mogul with Captain James D. Gallagher at its helm. It is known that at least John's father Thomas Mould & stepmother Mary Ann Morrell-Mould and John's brother Thomas Mould (1822-1907) immigrated about the same time on a different ship also likely to the port of New York.  

Brothers John Mould & Thomas Mould were both naturalized as U.S. citizens on 31 October 1844 at the Court of Oyer and Terminus, City Hall, Schenectady County, New York.  

John's surname has been found in records spelled MOLD and MOULD as have many of his kinsman, John's descendants have only spelled it MOULD.  

John Mould was married to Mary Ann Beeman (30 Aug 1824-18 Sep 1900), daughter of Henry Beeman (1800-1862) & Sarah "Sally" Crapo (1807-1839) on 24 Oct 1840 in New York.  

John Mould & Mary Ann Beeman had at least the following 10 children:

2. Mary Jane Mould (14 Feb 1845-13 Mar 1887)
3. Edward Busby Mould (17 Mar 1847-26 Jan 1898)
4. John H. Mould (3 Jun 1849-Aft 22 Sep 1900)
5. Halsey Wood Beeman Mould (27 Jun 1852-12 Aug 1925)
6. Charles E. Mould (5 Feb 1856-Feb 1856)
7. William Crapo Mould (17 Jun 1857-15 Mar 1940)
8. Clarence O. Mould (14 Oct 1859-28 Jun 1924)
9. Florence Amandy Mould (5 Nov 1861-10 Mar 1864)
10. Charles Beeman Mould (31 Oct 1864-Aft 22 Sep 1900)  

John was a Mason in the state of New York and County of Saratoga nearly his entire adult life and a long time member of the Episcopal Christ Church in Ballston Spa, Saratoga County, New York. At least John's brother Thomas was known to have served in the Civil War. We believe that he may have also served in the Civil War for the Union, more research is required.

Some descendants of John Mould still live in Ballston Spa, New York 167 years after his immigration from where his progenitors lived in and near Banbury, England for over 5 centuries.  

The descendants of John Mould today are god-fearing teachers, nurses, machinists, soldiers, computer programmers and upstanding, respected members of their communities; whom owe their very existence and success to John Mould whom was willing to leave the homeland of his forebears for the opportunity of a better life for his progeny.
