Peter William Olber MOULD
AKA: "Boy MOULD"
On 30 October 1939
In his Hawker Hurricane, then Pilot Officer Peter W.O. MOULD of No.1 Squadron, based at Vassincourt
in France, shot down a Dornier Do17 reconnaissance aircraft of 2 (Fernaufklärungs)/Aufklarungsgruppe 123.
This was the Royal Air Force's first air combat victory over the Continent during the Second World War.
Peter MOULD claimed eight more victories over France, six of them during the blitzkrieg.
At 24 years of age Peter William Olber MOULD was killed in action 30 miles north east of the island of Malta;
where he was stationed as a Squadron Commander for the 185th Squadron out of Hal Far, Malta; on 1 October 1941,
while flying in his Hawker Hurricane by Italian fighters whom ambused his group from a higher altitude.
Peter W.O. MOULD is offically credited with 11 victories, 3 being assists.
Peter W.O. MOULD also received the distinguised flying cross and a DFC bar posthumously
Peter's family hailed from Great Easton, England.
